B Pressure Welder

Job description
ALCO Gas & Oil designs, fabricates, and assembles oil and gas processing equipment for the domestic and global market. Alco is seeking B-Pressure Welders to work within our production facility.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Reporting to the department foreman, the successful candidate’s duties include, but are not limited to:
- The ability to use tools and equipment safely, while abiding by the health and safety rules
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, and helping others maintain their work area
- Basic fabrication experience and skill set with pressure vessel manufacturing
- Welding of pressure vessels
- Fitment of pressure vessels to meet drawing and code requirements
- Working at heights is required, training will be provided
Preferred Skills:
In this role, the successful candidates will have:
- 3+ years of experience in welding and fabrication of pressure vessels
- Pre-test required to be passed
- Ability to weld with the following practices: SMAW and GMAW
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication, attitude, collaborative skills and ability to follow directions
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs, work at heights, be agile and able to go on/off equipment, up/down ladders
Working Conditions:
- You will work in a large manufacturing facility with other trades present
- Longer than 8.0 hour work days may be required with short notice, must be available to work weekends when needed

Job Description
ALCO Gas & Oil designs, fabricates, and assembles oil and gas processing equipment for the domestic and global market. Alco is seeking a Metal Fabricator and Plate Roll Operator to work within our production facility.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor, the successful candidate’s duties include, but are not limited to:
- Operate and maintain various steel fabrication equipment including plate rolls, brake and shear, drill press, bandsaw and oxy/acetylene cutting equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Interpret drawings to ensure accuracy of dimensions.
- Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Report any deficiencies in material and equipment.
Preferred Skills:
In this role, the successful candidates will have:
- A Journeyman Metal Fabricator (Fitter) ticket would be an asset
- Proven experience to complete the duties as stated
- Experience with Imcar and Sertom plate rollers is a must.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial or fabrication shop.
- Exceptional organizational skills.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Reporting to the department foreman, the successful candidate’s duties include, but are not limited to:
- The ability to use tools and equipment safely, while abiding by the health and safety rules
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, and helping others maintain their work area.
- Reading and interpreting P&ID (piping and instrumentation drawings) and GA’s (general assembly) drawings to assemble a process piping system.
- Installing supports, valves, piping, and control systems
- Using hand tools or machines to perform various activities.
- Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipe
- Threading joints to join pipes and fabrication sections of piping systems.
- Performing hydrotest or pneumatic testing
- Adherence to industry standards, customer standards detailed on drawings, and company general practices.
Preferred Skills:
In this role, the successful candidates will have:
- Knowledge in hydrostatic testing
- Journeyman pipefitter with Red Seal is an asset.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Pipefitter
- Experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
- Experience in threaded piping systems
- Rigging experience
- Valid government-issued driver’s license
- Overall skill in relation to tools, measuring, and fabrication in general.
- Experience in a pipe fabrication setting.
- Strong commitment to safety
- Must be able to work well both independently and on a team.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work in high pressure schedule driven environment.
Certification/Ticket Requirements
- Steamfitter/Pipefitter Apprenticeship program participant
- OSSA Fall Protection is an asset.

ALCO Inc has provided Manual Machining services to numerous industries in and around Alberta for over 75 years. With the backing of our large in-house machine and fabrication facilities, our fully equipped tool trucks and portable machining equipment there isn’t a job or project too big or too small for us to handle. We are looking for outgoing apprentices and journeyman machinists interested in long and enjoyable career
What we're looking for:
Journeyman Manual Machinists $34.00 - $45.00 HR
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Operate Manual lathe/mill/ and /or grinding machines as within your scope of education and qualifications and with all safety precautions in place
- Change and set cutting tools. Modify and grind tools as required.
- Adjust feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency
- Measure and inspect parts to ensure dimensions are within tolerance
- Required to work within very close tolerances
- Experience with York and Bortech equipment would be ideal but not necessary.
- Read, study and interpret engineer drawings, blueprints, manuals, specifications, charts and tables
- Overhead Crane Experience
- Must be able to read/write/Speak English fluently.
- Be committed to all ALCO L.P HSE policies and procedures.
- Promote the safety program to all employees.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis Worksheets as required.
- Prepare for jobs and ensure the work carried out safely.
- Complete daily progress reports and job reports.
- Know and understand work site emergency response plans.
- Lead by example.
- Participate in maintaining all equipment in the machine shop in accordance with company preventative maintenance program
- Participate in all HSE inspections are completed and related back to the coinciding departments.
- Responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed, for example all QC, QA and HSE.
- Reliable transportation
- Experience with hand tools
- Must have safety shoes with 6” ankle coverage
- Good communication skills
- Must be able to do some lifting: Lift up to 50 pounds (not continuous)
- Other various general duties to be assigned
